Diwali Mela Festival of Lights 2025
Past Event
The festivities begin on Friday 31 October with a family-friendly Indian film screening at the historic Albany Town Hall. Movie-goers will enjoy a relaxed cultural night out, perfect for families and anyone curious to experience the colour and warmth of Indian storytelling.
On Saturday 1 November from 4pm–8pm, Albany Town Square will come alive with the main community celebration. Expect an explosion of music, dance, food, and light, as performers from across India’s diverse regions showcase traditional and contemporary Indian dance and music. There’ll be delicious Indian street food — from fragrant curries to crisp, fresh dosas — plus market stalls, henna artists, and colourful rangoli-making. Kids (and grown-ups) will love Jamie the Clown, family activities, and a chance to meet our newest festival Elephant mascot. As the sun sets, an Indian DJ will bring the beats and a spectacular sparkler display will light up the night.
